Musselman Honda Circuit This year, our Cinco-de-Mayo Autocross event will be held at a new venue. This track adds to the already interesting PCA Southern Arizona Regions' collection of driver education-style autocross sites. This local facility was designed for, and is regularly used by, Kart racers. Last year, our club gained access to the track which is 0.7986 miles in length, 34 feet wide, has an elevation change of 17 feet and is perfectly smooth, with adequate run-off areas. Checking the track map shows a wide variety of corner types and we think 'the line' will provide lots of fun for both new and experienced drivers. The pit area is small and spartan but we have already proved that it is workable. By careful event design, we have planned and implemented, with full PCA National sanction, multi-car and multi-lap practice and timed autocross events. This new track is a whole lot of fun!

Where: Via I-10, head East from downtown Tucson to exit 273 (Rita Rd.). Travel South On Rita Rd. to the first intersection and turn left onto S. Harrison Rd. Follow the road past the Pima County Fairgrounds to the entrance (on your Right) to the Musselman Honda Circuit. The track is about 4 miles from Interstate-10.

Or, from the Eastside of Tucson, Head South on Houghton Rd, cross I-10 and continue to the first intersection past Southwest International Raceway (as if you plan to enter SIR from the South). Continue West and turn Right onto Harrison Road. Turn Left into the Musselman Honda Circuit at 11,800 S. Harrison Road on the west side across from the Tucson Raceway Park facility. On this route, the track is about 3 miles from Interstate-10. GPS cordinates of the entrance to the track are, according to Google Earth, 32*02'08.40" N 110*117'26.89" W.

Cost: $60 per driver on or before May 2, 2010 and $80 after. Registration closes at 5pm May 6, 2010 and there will be NO refunds after the deadline. After you register, you will be taken to a page listing payment options.

You will need to empty out your car, make sure tires are at least to recommended pressures, wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants of natural material, bring drinks and lunch, bring a helmet if you have one and be prepared to smile a lot.

If you don't want to drive but want to help we can use you. There are several jobs that can you can do to help out: registration, assistance at tech, help in the pit area, flagging, and communication.

A tentative schedule is below. Please arrive well before tech inspection ends.

Tentative Schedule:

7:00 - 8:30 am: Tech inspection and Registration
8:00 am: Instructor's meeting
8:30 - 8:50 am: Mandatory driver's meeting
8:55 - 9:10 am: Parade laps
9:20 am: First car on track
< 4:00 pm: Finished for the day

  • Please register early so groups can be assigned in advance -- this is essential for planning and running the event smoothly.  Participation is limited to 40 drivers.

As this is a Zone 8 Event, Porsche automobiles will have priority over non-Porsche automobiles. If over 40 autocross entries are received, non-Porsche drivers will be removed based on later registration dates. Contact Dave Radmacher with any questions.

Zone 8 Drivers will be competing for year end zone points. Drivers are expected from California, New Mexico and Texas.

  • Print the PCA-Southern Arizona Region Tech Check Sheet and have your car checked by a qualified mechanic.
